The steps

Step 1: Choose and Prepare the Base

Select a sturdy base like a wooden board, an old picture frame, or even a large piece of cardboard. Wipe it clean and ensure it’s dry.

If you’re using a frame, remove the glass and backing to keep only the outer edges. You can paint or stain the wood for a more polished look, or leave it natural for a rustic feel.

Step 2: Measure and Attach the Twine

Cut several lengths of twine long enough to stretch across your board horizontally. Space them evenly, about 4–5 inches apart.

Attach each end securely at the back or sides of the board using a hot glue gun or thumbtacks. Make sure the twine is tight so it can hold the weight of the cards without sagging.

Step 3: Clip On the Cards

Once your twine rows are in place, use mini clothespins to hang your Christmas cards. Start from the top row and work downward, arranging cards by size or color for a balanced look.

You can mix in small photos, gift tags, or even pieces of wrapping paper for added texture and color.

Step 4: Add Decorative Touches

For a festive finishing touch, glue small pinecones, faux greenery, or ornaments along the top edge of your display.

You can also weave a strand of fairy lights around the twine for a cozy glow in the evenings. Keep decorations lightweight to avoid pulling on the structure.

Step 5: Display Proudly

Find the perfect spot for your finished card display — near your Christmas tree, in an entryway, or by the fireplace.

Each new card you receive can be easily added, turning your display into a growing gallery of holiday cheer. When the season ends, carefully remove the cards and store your display board for next year.
