4. Lemon Fresh Joy Fold Card

This lemon joy fold card feels bright, clean, and cheerful, and it’s one of those designs that looks finished even if you keep it simple. The wrap gives you a big space for the lemon pattern to shine, while the inner card gives the whole project that “gift inside” feel. I like keeping the focal cluster small and off to one side so the card still looks tidy and the fold stays the star of the show.
Materials needed
- Cardstock for wrap and inner card (white, yellow, green)
- Lemon patterned paper
- Paper trimmer and scissors
- Scoring board (or ruler + blunt tool) and bone folder (optional)
- Adhesive (tape runner or double-sided tape)
- Small lemon and leaf cutouts (die-cut or hand-cut)

Detailed steps to make
- Cut the wrap base. Trim cardstock to 8.5 x 5.5 inches. Keep the 8.5-inch side as the side you score.
- Score the wrap. Score at 2.75 inches along the 8.5-inch side. This creates the wrap flap.
- Fold the wrap cleanly. Fold on the score line and burnish the fold firmly so the flap sits flat and sharp.
- Cut the inner card. Trim cardstock to 7.5 x 5 inches.
- Score the inner card. Score at 3.75 inches along the 7.5-inch side, then fold and burnish.
- Plan your layers first. Before sticking anything down, place the inner card inside the wrap to see how much of the inner card front will show when the wrap is closed.
- Cut wrap mat and patterned layer. Cut a mat for the wrap front panel about 1/8 inch smaller on all sides. Cut lemon paper about 1/8 inch smaller than the mat.
- Adhere wrap layers. Attach mat first, then lemon paper on top. Press well so corners don’t lift.
- Decorate the inner card front. Cut a smaller mat and a small lemon paper panel or strip and place it on the inner card front so the styles match. Keep it simple so it doesn’t fight with the wrap.
- Attach inner card to wrap. Open the wrap, lay it flat. Add adhesive to the back panel of the inner card only, then place it centered on the inside back area of the wrap. Press firmly.
- Check closure and alignment. Close the wrap and make sure the inner card sits evenly with clean edges. If it sticks out, adjust placement before the adhesive fully sets.
- Add the focal cluster. Add a small lemon slice and leaf cluster on the wrap flap corner. Keep it away from the fold edge so it doesn’t bump when opening.
